Key Learning Objectives

  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the current EU media/communications landscape
  • Developing the competences to define and communicate a commanding message
  • Understanding how to effectively influence and interact with the media
  • Designing and implementing a successful communication plan
  • Dealing effectively with crises management issues

Target Group
Within the EU institutional and national administrative frameworks, the window for significant communications opportunities is significant. If you work in an EU Institution, European Commission or Parliament delegation, member state administration, regional/regulatory authority/agency or state organisation face internal challenges as well as competition from NGO’s, lobbyists and opposition politicians. This seminar is devised specifically to equip you with the skills to determine, develop and deliver on these communications opportunities.
For those of you working in a variety of more specifically communications-oriented roles, from media/press officers to communications managers, this seminar will provide a fresh and up-to-date insight into the dynamics of European communications.

Methods and Tools
This seminar is based on a highly interactive approach which combines the involvement of experienced media professionals with group participation in the form of relevant discussions, simulation exercises and feedback sessions. The practical focus of the seminar will include drafting press releases, managing press conferences, conducting interviews, planning campaigns and using communications as a crisis management tool.
All exercises are targeted at providing participants with the means to deliver a winning communications campaign in a highly challenging environment.
