Description
The focus of this seminar will be on the concept of an EU-wide patent, as first proposed in 2000 in the form of the Community Patent Regulation. In particular, the participants will be given an in-depth view of the (envisaged) status quo ante and post the introduction of this instrument, and the consequences this is likely to have for litigation in this area. This will also be compared with the experience of the Community Trade Mark and Community Design, as well the linked with the proposed Unified Patent Litigation System.

Methodology
A combination of presentations, discussions with participants and case studies.

Objective
This seminar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the nature and effect of the EU Patent, both theoretical and practical, and to encourage debate as to its probable ramifications.

Target Group
Judges, private practicing lawyers, national, international and EU officials who wish to learn more about the status and content and effects of the (proposed) Regulation establishing the EU Patent.

Language
The primary working language of this seminar will be English.
