What is this course about?
This is an advanced course on present and future developments in the field of asylum and migration policies. Since the start of the migration crisis, this policy area has been characterised by a huge number of new policy initiatives at both the European and the national level. This interactive course will provide insight and skills to understand the dynamics of asylum and migration policies and the impact these policies have for all levels of governance and how public administration can anticipate these developments.

How will it help you?
The course will pay attention to developments at both the European and the national level, and provide you with a state-of-the-art overview of present and future developments in this highly sensitive policy area. You will gain insight into and an understanding of best practices and challenges, both national and European, that might be applicable in your organisation, as well as of future developments that may affect it. This insight and understanding will be stimulated and supported by a personal ‘Back Home Action Plan’ (BHAP), followed by e-coaching, that will enable you to implement the knowledge in your own professional environment. The course will be interactive, making use of the participants’ experiences, case studies, best practices and challenges. The main goal will be to learn from each other and establish a relevant network of stakeholders. The course will also familiarise you with the terminology, and the main actors and institutes and their competences, with regard to asylum  and migration policies and the direct and indirect effects they have on all levels of European and national public administration.
